Mise en abyme<\/b> (French pronunciation: [miz\u00e2\u20ac\u00bf\u00c9\u2018\u00cc\u0192n\u00e2\u20ac\u00bfabim]; also mise en ab\u00c3\u00aeme<\/b>) is a French term derived from heraldry, and literally means “placed into abyss”.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

A common sense of the phrase is the visual experience of standing between two mirrors, then seeing as a result an infinite reproduction of one’s image.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Mise En Abyme, or Droste Effect,\u00c2\u00a0is the visual experience of standing between two mirrors, then seeing as a result an infinite reproduction of one’s image. Another word for this phenomenon is Recursion.<\/p>\n

Mise En Abyme is both science and art. This effect is often used in heraldry and coats-of-arms. The effect is captivating to look upon and the observer may spend a long time admiring this optical illusion, involuntary expecting deeper levels to be somehow new or different from the parent level.<\/p>\n

Like other Mise En Abymes, MEA Cloud uses RECURSION – it’s a computer within a computer!<\/p>\n
